Advent Adventures - The Series

Advent Adventures is a high-energy, Christ-centered Advent curriculum for children’s ministry, created for churches that want meaningful engagement without complicated logistics. Designed around the five Advent themes—Hope, Peace, Joy, Love, and Light—this immersive program helps kids experience the story of Christmas through hands-on learning, creativity, movement, and Scripture-based reflection. Advent Adventures works perfectly as a weekly Advent Sunday school curriculum, a midweek program, or a special seasonal event.

Created to inspire kids in conjunction with the  Revised Common Lectionary, Advent Adventures is developed in Year A, Year B, and Year C versions, making it an ideal fit for Lectionary-using churches. Each annual series includes five complete units—one for each of the four Sundays of Advent. We've also included  a FREE BONUS unit designed for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day services. Every unit is designed to run in a simple one-hour format using three easy-to-lead stations, making the program flexible, volunteer-friendly, and accessible for churches of any size.

Year A: Light of the World

2025 Advent Adventures: Light of the World is designed for Lectionary Year A and follows the Advent Gospel readings from Matthew. Anchored in John 8:12 — “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”, this five-unit Advent series invites children to explore the Christmas story as the fulfillment of God’s promises.

Through immersive stations and guided reflection, kids discover how Jesus brings hope to the waiting, peace to the fearful, joy to the faithful, and love to the world, revealing Him as the true Light who shines in the darkness. Light of the World works seamlessly alongside Advent worship services and provides a joyful, gospel-centered children’s Advent curriculum for the entire season.

Year B: Prepare the Way of the Lord

2026 Advent Adventures: Prepare the Way of the Lord is designed for Lectionary Year B and centers on the urgent call to readiness found in the Gospel readings of Mark. Rooted in Luke 3:4 — “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’”, this five-unit series focuses on the prophetic ministry of John the Baptist and the call to prepare our hearts for the coming King.

Through themes of repentance, courage, obedience, and expectation, children are invited to actively respond to God’s call during Advent. With its simple structure, low-prep stations, and strong biblical foundation, Prepare the Way of the Lordequips churches to offer a powerful, memorable Advent program for kids that aligns naturally with the Lectionary and the message of the season.
